Media Release : 2009 LOYAL TO LOCAL MANUFACTURER

Fears of intellectual property piracy, the need for higher quality control and shorter delivery times are forcing many South Australian businesses to reverse the trend of offshore manufacturing.

Adelaide-based manufacturer Lincoln Plastics is living proof of South Australian businesses wanting to keep their production in this state and their clients’ Intellectual Property secure.

Lincoln Plastics has an annual turnover of $5 million and is a national manufacturer.

Chief Executive Officer Colin White, believes there are positive signs that businesses across a wide variety of sectors are recognising the benefits and true value of local production.

We had good reason to celebrate last year as it was our 50th anniversary.  We are even more excited now because we recently added Adelaide-based electronics giant, Clipsal, as a client.

Lincoln Plastics is working closely with Clipsal to manufacture a range of electrical components.  Clipsal were looking for high quality, efficient and reliable manufacturing support and we were pleased and proud to pass their stringent guidelines and quality control measures.”

Colin White remarks, “In recent times, we have noticed a developing trend away from offshore manufacturing, with more local businesses looking to bring it closer to home to avoid IP problems and other difficulties associated with contracting overseas.  Lincoln Plastics respond to projects faster than overseas counterparts while eliminating costly transport logistics and communication difficulties at the same time”.

“Some organisations have been burned in the past by so-called cheap offshore manufacturers who don’t deliver on quality or deadlines.

“In contrast, our staffs are hands-on with each project from start to finish which gives clients confidence in our service.

“We’re proud to be able to offer local businesses a better local solution.”  Our clients are increasingly coming to us for help in developing new products, knowing that we can see a project through from the initial concept to commercialisation,” he said.

“We work closely with inventors, innovators, designers and patent attorneys.”

Lincoln Plastics works in a broad range of domestic and industrial markets and names Bianco Precast, Electrolux, Redarc, Lencom Antennas and Expanda Stand among its clientele.  Further to this, it is a front runner in the tooling and manufacturing of irrigation supplies for Adelaide based companies Antelco and Toro Australia (Pope®) who export their high quality products worldwide.
